Finasteride is a drug in tablet form. Male athletes, the drug helps to cope with some side effects of steroids, the effects of which are manifested as excess body hair growth, prostate hypertrophy, and baldness.
The peculiarity of Finasteride is that it does not affect the production of cortisol, thyroid hormones, and pituitary hormones. The principle of the drug is that it blocks the action of the derivative of testosterone, the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme is located in the hair follicles and is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. With the reduction of 5-alpha-reductase, there is no dihydrotestosterone, which is responsible for hair loss. Thus, with a decrease in the level of dihydrotestosterone, hair follicles do not interfere with development.
Taking the drug on a course of steroids will protect against possible side effects of testosterone.
Course of admission
The course of Finasteride is recommended during the entire cycle of taking anabolic steroids 1-5 mg per day. You can take it at any time of the day, regardless, before or after a meal. The drug is absorbed for a long time, within 6-8 hours after administration, but has a long-term effect.
Finasteride is contraindicated in women.
Side effects
Perhaps a decrease in potency and/or libido, a decrease in the volume of ejaculate, gynecomastia, tenderness of the mammary glands, an increase in the concentrations of LH and FSH in the blood. Allergic reactions are possible: a skin rash, a Quincke's edema (an increase in the face or limb).
