Counting the calories you eat is boring and unpleasant. But you should do it at least once in your life, for 30 days!
What comes to mind when you say calorie count? The first words that come to mind are "boring", "dull", "obsessive" or "it hurts in terms of calories". But you should count them anyway!
But only once and only for 30 days. It is the safest way to regain control of what you eat and ultimately help you lose weight and build muscle mass.
We are in the age of fashionable diets. Some work, some don't! Keto, intermittent fasting, veganism, carnivore, paleo, low-carb, and whatever else exists and still occurs, can all work in some people. But there is a classic strategy that we should all do at least once in our lives: the number of calories eaten in 30 days.
Let's start with the bad part. Calorie counting is NOT an extremely effective and accurate and infallible strategy. Yes, the labels are not very accurate, but at least you have a general idea. Yes, it may take some time to count / weigh the food, but we spend hours on Facebook, with our heads on the screen. 5-10 minutes divided throughout the day to count the calories will not confuse you too much.
It is also said that counting calories develops an unhealthy relationship with food. You no longer see the joy of eating, only calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates. If you are struggling with eating disorders, talk to a psychologist and leave the calorie count and diets of any kind!
But calorie counting will teach you an extremely valuable lesson: awareness.
What is measured can be managed. In personal finance, the emphasis is on setting a budget and managing the money spent. If you don't know these things, you can't make a smart financial plan.
The same goes for what you eat and how much you eat. In short, if you are not aware of what and how much you eat, you cannot make informed choices.
How can you adjust your weight loss diet if you don't know how much you eat? How do you know if the money given on supplements really covers a nutritional deficit or is it just an extra expense?
And the biggest advantage: you will only have to do it for 30 days! It is suicidal to get a pretty accurate idea of what certain amounts of calories look like, and in the future you will know how to approximate your eyes!
